Maor Zabar’s love of art started at a young age. The grandson of a tailor, he learned how to sew and play with fabric, and was later inspired to become a designer. Maor graduated with a degree in fashion and costume design from Shenkar college of Engineering & Design in Tel Aviv, and soon opened his studio to begin working as a costume designer in dance, theatre and opera. In recent years, Maor has won numerous awards for his work and has secured his place as one of the leading costume designers in Israel.
On 2014 Maor started a millinery atelier that carries his name, Maor Zabar Hats, and thanks to his unique, colorful and humorous designs, Maor has managed to achieve recognition of bloggers, journalists and other co designers all around the world. In October 2017, he was honored with his first solo exhibition presenting his hats at the museum – “Museu da Chapelaria” in Portugal.
After fulfilling years of fruitful work, Maor decided to conquer another summit ambition,he had dreamed of for many years: to divert his resources to open a fashion brand that bears his name, and showcase a collection of couture handmade evening and bridal gowns and bridal head ornaments alongside his headpieces.
Maor draws his inspiration from the world of nature, art and theater, while composing contrasts between organic and geometric worlds. Maor’s couture gowns are sewn in his studio, while using only high quality fabrics such as silk, lace and Taffetas , and are meticulously crafted by hand alongside modern techniques such as digital textile printing, laser cutting and 3D printing. The combination of classical techniques with luxury materials and modern technologies yields the fresh, new, and theatrical aesthetic which identifies Maor Zabar’s Unique style.
